Phuket's Best Beaches

Phuket is a beautiful island region of Thailand and because of its enchanting scenery and tropical, sunny climate, it has become a popular vacation destination among travelers from around the world. Those searching for the perfect tropical vacation will not be disappointed with Phuket. Below are five of the area's top beaches:

Patong Beach

Patong is Phuket's most famous beach and draws the highest number of tourists. It is situated on Phuket's West Coast and is approximately 2 ½ miles long. It is located deep within a protective bay that is surrounded by a high, lush green mountain range. Although it is the most developed beach on the island, it is kept in immaculate condition and features clean water and white, pristine sand. Close to the beach are bungalow complexes and other types of accommodation options, as well as seafront shops, restaurants and nightclubs. Those searching for a lively vacation are typically well pleased with this popular party beach.

Nai Harn Beach

Nai Harn is a comfortable and quiet beach on the south end of Phuket, and is famous for its crystal-clear waters. Here, visitors will also find the renowned and prestigious Phuket Yacht Club. Although tourism thrives in the area, it is still possible to find reasonably priced lodging near Nai Harn Beach, as it is less crowded and not as well known as Patong Beach. The middle section of the beach is home to the Samnak Song Nai Han monastery, a landmark that many credit with preventing the excessive development of the area.

Rawai Beach

Situated approximately 12 miles to the south of Phuket, Rawai Beach is a popular choice among Thailand residents. This is because the beach is perfect for those in search of solitude, and offers reasonably priced lodging and authentic Thailand cuisine at various mom-and-pop restaurants. It is located near other top tourist attractions, such as Coral Island and the spectacular Laem Promthep Cape.

Karon Beach

Karon Beach is located just south of Patong, and is Phuket's second largest tourist beach. Many resorts and hotels are found on the single lane highway that sits just behind the shoreline. However, Karon Beach itself is long and broad and is still essentially in its natural state, as it has not yet been developed. The sand is bright white, and audibly squeaks when walked on–an amusing characteristic both visitors and locals enjoy. Karon Beach also boasts a fine coral reef at its southern point. Bus service from Phuket to Karon Beach and back is available on a daily basis, year-round.

Kata Beach

Kata Beach is a beautiful and quiet area that offers more solitude than Patong or Karon Beach. It is divided into two sections with Kata Yai to the north and Kata Noi to the south. Kata Yai is a long section of the Beach that is home to Club Med and several high-end shops and spas. Both sections of the beach offer crystal clear waters and clean sand. Visitors also have numerous restaurants from which to chose, including two of Phukets most exclusive eateries, the Gallery Grill and the Both House. Regardless of one's vacation objectives, a trip to beautiful Phuket is guaranteed to be an exciting and memorable experience.
